Hello all,

ABCD drive opened the camping season of the year in a usual location of Umm Zumul. My plan to arrive before sunset failed due to some household chores, so I reached the gate around 6.20 pm by which time sun had already set. While checking the GPS for the camp point I realized the location had been changed from the earlier one and was deeper in the dunes. Once I loaded the old tracks I could see an easier track to reach there. I knew @Mghoneim was on the way, but then @Ehab arrived and we proceeded together. It was not the easiest of the ways to get there due to plenty of bushes. Once we got there my GPS was still showing we were some 300 meters away, but Ehab was confident it was the right place and besides it had some nice breeze in what was otherwise a hot evening that we decided to stay. Shortly we heard another convoy approaching in the distance which claimed to be in the right spot. We argued a bot over the radio over whose camp is right, but eventually they joined us. Moral of the story is that Explorer and Advance are not always right.
After some sit down around the fire I set to pitch the tent. Unfortunately, it was a terrible night of sleep. It was windy with tent flapping all the time. On top of that my mattress developed small hole during summer so air would hold for appr. 2 hours. In total I had maybe max 4 hours of sleep.
In the morning @scorpio announced that it would be an endurance drive and the goal was to survive till the end which means not taking additional risks and drinking lots of water. Doctor knows best. Immediately we hit big dunes which on previous drives were left to the afternoon. Even if I came only for those 40 minutes it would have been enough to obtain the dose of adrenaline. We spent 3 hours without major issue save for one pop out. Unfortunately I had to leave the drive at noon. it was far from perfect crest control and I had to come down on the side of the dune with hard bottom. I managed to control the car to avoid bad outcome, but still hit the ground harder than necessary. No pop out but messed up the alignment. Car was driving ok, but I consulted with @Rashidjass who said I would be confused on next crests which could be dangerous. It was almost lunch time so I went back to the road hoping that I would quickly fix it in Al Qua and still have time to return. Unfortunately the only shop was on lunch break until 4 pm, so no choice to drive home earlier than planned. When I reached Abu Dhabi it took the shop less than 10 minutes to fix the alignment.
I will be away soon for the rest of the year, so in case I will not see you until 2026, enjoy good weather and have fun.

Oh its good to be back to Umm Al Zumoul :D

Planning to change the routine this season and attempting to arrive early to camp, which to an extent was successful. I arrived at the gate around 7:30pm with @AhmadHasan & @AljamhiB who I met in Al Quaa. Deflated and headed to camp where no one was there eventhough we expected @Ehab &@orlantsev to be there.

Finally we managed to change the meeting point successfully and asking the rest to join us :)

Sleeping was not the best experience as my tent gave up and had to sleep in the car and the weather was kind of hot. In the morning , I enjoyed breakfast and got ready for the long day. Briefing was a concise as most of us drove the area before.

Unexpectedly we went straight into the higher dunes to warm up , and we nearly spent 1 hour playing non-stop on one big Dune :D Then we carried on with the rest of the chain till noon. It was time for some rest and lunch as the visibilty started to be a challenge.

Around 1:30 we started again up the chain, pedal to the metal till 5pm. Leaving with a big smile on our faces and I look forward to our next one already.

Big Thanks to @Scorpio for Organizing the drive and the lead
@alshamsi_m @Rashidjass @optimus @Ehab &@David for supporting the drive.
