I have a 2009 xterra (not offroad) with a pretty bad suspension. Put a passenger in the back and every time I hit a speed bump above 20 kph, it bottoms out.
Do yo mean the rear tires will rub the fender well ? ( rear tires hitting the body ) because of a soft suspension ?

If you are not lifting the vehicle , your best shot could be upgrading the hole leaf spring rear suspension to something can stand more weight at the same height of the stock suspension .

@ Nicosd - I notice this in our Xterra especially if loaded. (but seems to be normal)
I did a lot of reading (review) and its seems that Timbren bump-stops is best solution other than upgrading your suspension. (cheapest option). Else you need to slow down a bit in every bump :D
