Good day to all Almonster peeps!

Here is my report for Drive Hard 8.0

Arrived at camp around 1:00 a.m. tired and exhausted from the drive, sat on the bonfire and hit the sack after an hour or so. I'm sure there are good fun for those who arrived early.


Early morning the convoy was split into two (5+ and 10+) this report is the amazing 5+ report. Enjoy the reads!


5+ was led by Lead @strawb, @Rashidjass on recovery and @Abu Jimmy as Sweeper.


The first lesson was on top of the 1st dune drop STRICTLY reminded and imposed by @strawb to stick on the marshal track for safety reasons and being my first time to Liwa. I too was guilty of not following this instruction which lead me to get partially stuck on where I am at because the sand was extremely soft.


So the joy of driving (SAFELY) in Liwa continues throughout the day where the drops seems no ending. Strictly following the instructions made the entire drive almost seamless until we reached high and last dune where each and every newbie got crested. "I was caught twice on the same spot".


On the way back I also enjoy watching @Arminjune and @Rashidjass playing in the sand as well.


We had a lunch break by the Watertank Truck stuck in Liwa with an extremely serious pop-out looking condition:killzonesmiley:. The 10+ convoyed joined us after few minutes longer-than-expected and to my surprise there was an injured Pathfinder escorted as they approach us:wtfsmilie:. I am curious to know what happened but that will be another story or report to tell.


So. We split the convoy once again an continue the journey to the exit point with the injured vehicle and during the drive the convoy was asked by @Abu Jimmy to slow down as the Pathfinder's RPM cannot go up to 2.5 RPM. On this situation @strawb took the long but relatively flat ground (This is Liwa! as per my expectation flats are not really flat but just relatively flat). In the end it reached the exit point and THERE WAS NO ONE LEFT BEHIND! Cheers to all!.


From then on I reckon the Marshals drove with the Pathfinder to a more convenient place to have it checked.




:ninja: Lesson Learned
This drive was fantastic and I because of the duration of the drive the I learned very important things which I will charge to experience.
1. 4L Clutch (Reverse) and 4L Clutch (2nd Gear) - I realized the difference driving manual on road vs desert. I can say I am not a clutch drive on road or may be not so much on traffic but in the desert I smell the essence of my clutch. Changing the pedal between clutch and gas offroad was a challenge for me and I may need to practice this to master it (this may cost some AED soon).


2. 4H and 4L - This play. If done with precision timing was simply awesome but first I need to remind me of my point 1.


3. Follow the Marshal/Lead track and follow the Marshal/Lead track. This is for safety.

It seems everybody is tired, except the photographers as there is no trip report yet :) (When i finished writing @Just Joseph already posted his report :) )

Actually don't know which words will be proper to explain the experience. First of all you feel so small inside. The only thing you see is sand, in different forms, mostly big hills (huge maybe more correct) and what we saw is the beginning, the scale gets bigger when you go further inside. Hope to be there someday.

Unfortunately, my car was not ready so we came with @Solmaz in our FJ, with our guest @Daggerfall. As @alshamsi_m also allowed us to do, we changed the seats during the drive so both had the chance to experience.
@alshamsi_m warned us in the beginning to be careful as the formation can suddenly change and you can face a big drop when you expect a flat area. Keeping distance, managing the speed and emotions, you cannot give up on your concentration for a second. I drove on the softest sand i ever been on most probably. Due to steep drops, some of us had some hits on bumpers. @NoumanK had one serious situation which he managed with the less damage possible as far as i understood. It was really inspiring to see everyone helping him on the car to make it run through the drive and get out of the desert. You guys rocked it. Hope you get your car fixed soon @NoumanK.
Teasing my friends about the jerrycans was also fun for me... Thanks to my double tank :yaeh am not durnk:

All in all, it was a successful drive which all the convoy did well and obviously enjoyed a lot. 7 hours of driving in Liwa is something that you will never forget...

Agalon.... Looks like you really enjoyed Liwa.... The Liwa drive was on a Tuesday... Not friday . This shows how great the drive was

Hello Everyone,

First of all I would like to thank @Agalon and @Solmaz for their generous invitation to join them in this great ride. It was an amazing experience. With my existing Club Member status :) (There was no ride since I join the club that I was qualified to join) I would not be able to experience such a great ride soon.

As @Agalon mentioned before we were expecting to ride with 2 cars but due to a transmission problem we ride with one car. This gives me an opportunity to watch and learn from both skillful drivers and how a good piece of machinery the FJ (Yoda) is. Also that FJs can fly :)) @Solmaz

We were 3rd then 2nd in lead so this was also another good opportunity to watch @alshamsi_m closely which also gives me a chance to take some nice photos.

Most important thing I understand is you need time an experience to level up since you might found yourself in a situation unintentionally that you need to make split second decisions to avoid catastrophic results which we experienced one in this ride and @Agalon avoid it very skillfully.

I also saw how a good team and family this club members are in the incident that occurred that everyone helped to recover @NoumanK (Hope you fix your car soon)

I am a new member in the club so I do not recognize everyone yet but thanks to all Marshalls and Founders of the club for this great ride and Armin for the nice breakfast he prepared in the morning and again to Albayrak family for the opportunity.

So I am still waiting for my opportunity to start driving with this family and hope it comes soon
