I'm sorry, but I rather call it "Expect the EXPECTED"!!!

How can you not expect to jump going up a straight dune at those speeds?

This videos needs to be seen by all members. It is a fairly expensive lesson learnt by Walihali, and I thank him for being brave enough to share it with us. Not everybody has the courage to admit to their own mistakes.

Hey Walihali,

Praise God you are fine... I can understand how you might have felt before the jump and after as well, as i did the same mistake in my brand new FJ in the year 2008... A straight jump on a large dune and then nose dive... My wife and myself where in the car and thank GOD we survived the jump...

Check on your chassis as it might have taken a hard beating... My chassis was bent due to which my doors couldn't open (jammed) and had to be replaced after my jump...

Its a mistake i will always remember... and i know you will too brother... but thank God that he has kept you safe as anything could happen in such a jump...

OMG !! thats not cool at all!! Apart from the above mentioned consequences, you could have somersaulted the slipface considering the drop, speed & the nose dive!!. You were lucky on that, take care dear.
On the lighter side it was a demonstration of what capri mentions the newbees class "dont take off from the dune"!!
Edit : on the other hand looking ahead the next dune you climb, make sure to have just enough speed so that you dont get crested example, profile pic of Gorgin4325, that's how you cross a sharp ridge.

LOL...the very same thing happened to me too with my first FJ in 2008 ....just like Shawn too......broke the bumper / radiator creased my fenders and teh doors wouldnt open too.

It was probaly the fifth drive in teh desert and I was trying to show my cousin how to drive.

Its good to hear your damage was not that extensive. Let me know if you need any help with Al Futtaim in Abu Dhabi to get your ride fixed, I know people there.

OMG!!!! What were you thinking???? :056:

Well its done! people learn from mistakes...if you knew it would be so dangerous im sure you would have never done it in the first place.... I've never ever tried to go to the desert without 'The Almost4x4 Angels' (Marshals) around me!!!
Hope this mistake helps you for the better...Thanks to God you are fine, that's what matter the most!

Take care and Drive safe buddy! :003:

hey bro, i know by now you've already got plenty of advices and you'd have realised the mistake yourself.
I just wanted to say this is one of the best flying FJ videos i've seen :028::045:

P.S: My liking should not be considered as encouragement...
