ECU Reset

I noticed some sluggishness on my Pajero and delayed acceleration response time. When you accelerate, it takes a while (1-2 seconds) before the engine revs up and it sounds as if it is choking. I did some research on this and found that these cars come with ECU’s that try to optimize efficiency by ‘learning’ how you drive. Often, this has a negative effect.
So, I disconnected the negative terminal from my battery for about 40 minutes and then reconnected. This resets the ECU and the response time is back to normal. Really made a big difference!
