Do not like your car's color? How could you like the Toyota FJ's color?!?!?
I purchased a white FJ and decided to change it to blue, like my old beautiful JLRU.
This post documents the information I found about the process.
Different Emirates have different procedures, the following information are valid in Dubai as of today (Feb 2025) at best of my knowledge. Before moving on, be sure to get proper and update information.
* Request the Dubai Police NOC: quick and easy via mobile app.
* Go with the color change, whether it is painting or wrapping.
* Have an RTA inspection at an RTA inspection centre.
* On RTA website apply for the vehicle detail change, to get an updated mulkiya.
The order is very important: NOC first. So far, I have never seen step 4 mentioned anywhere. Keep in mind the step 4 is not doable 30 days before registration expiration.
If you do your color change together with renewal, you pay one inspection only.
Private cars: 2 colors only are admitted.
Business cars: can have whatever design and colors, as long as they get specific RTA approval on a yearly basis.
Stickers are not allowed, no matter the size: based on experience and other friends reports, the enforcement of this rule depends on your luck, ranging from "no problem", to failing RTA inspection up to a 500 AED fine.
