Dear Almosters,

during my short stay in Italy I realized how much I missed the Desert. The peace, the silence, the relax only Desert can offer. Just back home in Dubai and I couldn't miss the 2020 Drive .. how can you miss a drive with such a name ORLY

@Rashidjass was super-nice and gave me a seat left empty by a last minute quit and in few minutes the dream come true thumbsup

The drive was in Nahil area where we had beautiful drives before and when I reached the meeting point I found a VIP Team: new Inters, experienced Inters, Advanced and plenty of Marshals. What a better way to start the new year grin

We had also a VIP treatment by @presa who shared a great coffee and @SameRaptoRed who pleased us with delicious sweets

When @Rashidjass delivered the briefing I was so silly to forget the "golden rule": never speak during a briefing .. I said something like "I'm like a new Intermediate as it's first Inter drive with the FJ" and cashed 2nd Lead offer from @Rashidjass wtfsmilie
Luckily he was in good mood and opted for @optimus you're kidding, right

As the drive started the radio also started to announce 2nd tries then 2nd tries and after that even more 2nd tries grin nothing serious, nothing dangerous, just an indicator that for many of us the learning mode was "on"

We also had some bad luck ... a water pump belt destroyed, a battery dead, a front axle bent so the first drive of 2020 had his glory but overall it was a great drive and as always the troubles have been turned into opportunities by our Marshals when @Rashidjass shifted the lead to @presa in order to fix a battery issue and not to stop the fun for the drivers at the same time

It was a very good drive for me as I improved the bond with my FJ and I think I improved on keeping the right distance. I also think wrong distance was also the reason for the many 2nd tries we had in this drive

Last but not least .. THANKS !! to @Rashidjass first of all as he arranged the first drive of 2020. To @presa, @SINGH and @Barish who shared plenty of advise. To the Advanced who assisted the convoy to ensure safety and to all the Intermediates, old and new as it's always great to drive with, learn from and have fun with you

Looking forward to meeting you soon,
Loca and Ciccina

Hi All
2020 started with the trip organized by one of the best Marshal in town @Rashidjass .💪🏼😎
Couldn’t even think of missing it!!!
Friday morning was very soothing........ sitting on top of a dune, with light breeze, hot coffee (thanks to @presa) ,some sweets (thx to sami) and amongst a wonderful company.
Soon when everyone arrived, @Rashidjass did the briefing where he placed @optimus as second lead, new interms in front and senior interms behind with @Johanna sweeping, @SINGH / @Youssef.Abdelhady floating and marshals @presa / @Barish keeping the eagle eyes.
Convoy started with immediate calls for second tries which lead to a slow movement of the convoy. Finally when the speed picked up, we came to know @Barish car became technical and had to be escorted out to the road. (Hope it gets well soon)
@Rashidjass and @presa switched lead just to give us the taste of different flavors. Momentum picked up and we floated over several high dunes, flattening those crispy crests.
Last half hour was an extended pleasure when @Rashidjass got into the grove and did the chain of side-crests. 😍.
Slightly passed the schedule end time we reached the finish line, inflated and drove our way.
Thanks @Rashidjass for a wonderful drive. @presa for the pitching-in, to further making things enjoyable. @Barish @SINGH @Youssef.Abdelhady for all the support.
Enjoyed the day 👍🏼

Till next time

Hi Almosters!

Congrats to the new intermediates!

We had a lot of fun at their first intermediate drive.

There were a few stops, as mentioned, but none avoid the drive to be fun and enjoyable!

@sigh performed a show on towing a dead car... Next time I have a problem I will call him on the radio :) but no side crests for me ok?

I lead for about 1h, while @Rashidjass was recharging a dead battery. Mobile JASS Garage support is amazing [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

I was very kind to the fresh intermediates, that was almost a walk in the park... But when Rashid took the lead again... I could smell the fear on the new and old intermediates [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] aside from a few second tries due to too close distance and some losing the track everyone did great and drive safely! Well done Almosters!

This is my first drive as an intermediate and boy oh boy it was a whole different level of fun, we have witnessed many sorts of situations
Cars issues ✅
Marshals greatnesses in caring for the convoy ✅
Side cresting..... a lot of it ✅
Old intermediates/advance drivers taking care of us “fresh meat” ✅

All the training of keeping communication, keeping distance depends on situation, picking up your line and first and foremost respect gravity and be safe paid its results as clear as the sun in a Dubai summer mid-day sky.

After gathering and morning greetings we were pleased by @presa ‘s much needed coffee and @SameRaptoRed ’s sweets to go with it .... then we started driving.
First part was led by @Rashidjass , @optimus as second lead and myself as 3rd car. @Rashidjass started with head on side cresting a dune after dune after dune 😍 we were driving with a good rhythm and flow shortly radio was announcing few 2nd tries at the back 😅

We stopped for a couple of times while 💥JASS AUTO GARAGE (Nahil branch)💥 took care of some issues drivers had

Second part was led by @presa and @Loca as second lead, @presa started his part saying "ok drivers we are going to play for some time" and play we did 🤗…. Side cresting from hard side and soft one, side cresting our way up a dune then drive on the wall only to continue side cresting up again …. It was really fun and enjoyable 👍. After some time we reached back to @Rashidjass location where all members rejoined the convoy

As planned exit time was closing in, I though the drive was to be concluded only to hear @Rashidjass saying "no no there is still some dunes to drive" 🤯….. oh oh it’s going to be real fun now …. @Rashidjass took the lead again and the fun continued till we climbed up a very high dune only to drive down its base till all of the convoy gathered then drove in a big arch to side crest it back … I think that is a new technique, to learn and master ✅

The drive was fast, keeping the right distance would make a big difference attacking the coming dune as well as choosing your own track

Thanks for leading marshals, support and wishing fast recovery for those faced issues during the drive

Special thanks to @Mahmoodyasin & @Youssef.Abdelhady for their opinions and discussions

Till next time
Cheers

Hi All,

Happy New Year to everyone!

First of all I would like to thank the unsung heroes of the drive.
The 2 guys from JASS Garage (Uzair and the other guy, I am sorry I can’t recall his name).
They did a great job in keeping barish’s car running for the first hour.
But once the car finally gave up, they did try best to put it back on the track but unfo they couldn’t do much as this time it was the drive belt that broke.

Then I had issues with the car battery. First they tried to jump start the car but when that didn’t work, they took out the battery from @Rashidjass djass FJ (LAVA) and put it on mine.
It was here when our lead marhsall decided to handover the lead to @presa esa and instead me going back home, he told me to carry on with the drive, meanwhile Barish was called upon and was asked that we would need his battery for Lava.

So I had the battery from Lava whereas lava took the charge from Barish’s Rocky! Such was way, the batteries were swapped! ha ha! and Rashid bhai took the lead again!

Thank you very much Rashid bhai for keeping the convoy running and lending helping me with the battery so I remained the part of the drive till the end! It was because of you that I was even able to attend the afternoon drive! Shukran habibi! :)

Despite the number of stops we had, the drive was awesome. @Rashidjass as usual put the convoy through multiple challenges, I really enjoyed being the 2nd car behind him, though its not that easy to follow the lead car in inter drive.
One need to remain extra focused , maintain proper distance, proper speed, never let go your eyes from the lead car since it would take one small mistake that can jeopardize the safety of the cars behind you!

Everyone played safe however a small advise for the upgraded inters.
once @Daggerfall said and i quote : Whenever you do a side crest, don't do it just for the sake of doing it (show off), like this you will never learn the proper technique. Always make sure that you have enough speed, momentum, right line, correct angle before you execute a crest.

Until next time!

That is so true, never side crest just for the sake of it. Just because we got upgraded does not mean that we stop playing safe and go side crest crazy. In fact it means that we have to play safer than before. As @Barish always says, change without improvement is a waste of time.

I have been missing on all the fun and action so much but all these trip reports, pictures and videos keep me going. Last time I drove was in the club member drive of the latest batch of intermediates (let that sink in). Hopefully I can start driving again in the next few weeks.

Can't wait to be with you guys again.

See you all on the sand.

Hello Almosters,

at our first drive of the new year @Rashidjass brought us to Nahel. The area is amazing, it has medium to big sized dunes and some nice walls and bowls to tackle.

In this drive we welcomed our freshly upgraded intermediates and our Marshals @Rashidjass and @presa (who took over in between) chose a perfect track, not too intimidating for the new inters, but with some challenging spots for all of us. We did a lot of side crests in all variations, many arches and side slopes and a few rides on top of the crests. Sand was soft and especially the last cars had to deal with messed up tracks. Depending on your position in the convoy you experience the drive completely different.
As Marshals say in the front you learn the skills, in the back you learn to survive. I cannot agree more to this.
We had some car issues, this is part of the game and especially in this level we visit the garages quiet often Psmiley I hope the cars will be fixed soon to be back in the sand.

Thanks everyone for the drive and hats off to our new inters, you all did great thumbsup

Cant wait to see all of you in the sand soon.

If it excites you and scares you at the same time, it probably means you should do it.
