Mark! Great news! Your dedication is truly amazing. Now you can look back at the journey you made from in your own words 'walk to the next dune to see what is behind it before driving'.

Dear Almost4X4 Club

I am so touched by the confidence the club has shown in me. Making it to three stars speaks more to the abilities of the Marshals and Founders than it does to my Jeep and myself. They have taken someone who had never driven on sand and taught him how to do so safely. Skills were developed slowly and incrementally, building each drive upon the last. It seems only yesterday I took that first Club Member drive. Apprehension gave way to confidence and what was difficult became easier.

This is not just a club, It is a family. Club members not only take care of their own, but strangers and the community at large. This club teaches you not just to drive, but how to be a better person. For me, I look forward to the comradery, with fellow club members, more than I do for the drive. Driving has taken second place to spending time with friends. Driving is the bonus.

I know that, just as moving from Newbie to Intermediate meant a whole new set of skills to learn, moving from Intermediate to Advanced will also mean a lot of learning ahead. I am grateful for the confidence the club has in me to take on these new challenges. I pledge to continue to contribute to the club in any way I can. You can count on me.

Thanks, orlantsev. It has truly been an amazing journey. I remember those days. Walk 200 M to plan the route, then drive 200 M then repeat. Now what you can see is not the challenge. What is over the next dune is the challenge. That is where the joy is.
