Last week, 8 March 2013, we had a private trip, or 'Test of Skills (TOS)' between Newbies and Marshals.

Many Newbies, coming to our Club think that they can only drive with us, if they vehicles are 'properly' modified. From the following table, you can see the notes from this single drive, and set the criteria for yourself, what do you want to add to your own skills or to your toy features.

The best modification to that vitara is it's DRIVER :028::045:

and I think the best and first performance modification that can be done to a car is it's driver.

Very Well organized & nicely developed chart there silvester. I agree with you completely, as a marshal & the convoy leader its if of vital importance to assert these factors & see to it that they are adhered to. Many offroaders who are in this scene for a long time know this very well, in fact most of them drive stock or near stock cars & every once in while,a Enthusiastic newbie pops up & challenges the rules, .My only advise to them is take it slowly & find a mentor & their vehicle, check it throughly, look at the driving style, skill sets, techniques employed, understand different terrains in the sand, develop knowledge of their own car's capabilities & then & ONLY THEN start modifying accordingly. If anyone is expert they can go ahead with their plans cause they are aware of what needs to be done.

Nice thread, my learning over the years is to first treat the desert and fellow drivers with RESPECT! Respect to me means approaching every situation with a degree of humility and caution. This does not mean we need to feather ourselves in the sand. We can really aggressive with our vehicles but must understand the limits of ourselves first, of our surroundings (including other drivers).

When we approach driving with this mindset, we can slowly start to explore the full potential of our vehicles (standard or modified)...

I'm sorry to have missed this event, would have loved to participate

Interesting chart. Whats the definition of suffering and how does one suffer.

Also under the FJ mods vinyl...what is this ? is it a go fastthing ?

So I am guessing Wrangler with huge tires is a big no no !

Stucks means = Physical stuck, where you need yo take shovel and dig or rely on Buddy's mercy
Suffering means = When you need to make additional rounds to make the dune or crest and you are trying again and again and at the end (after successful cross) you don't see a convoy in front of you. It can be called also as mental/psycho suffering. Additionally the driver with rounds might hear in the radio very supporting messages, to the leader "Hold on the convoy, we have somebody with additional rounds" or "Do it again, we all are sure you can make it".
