Hi All,
My name is Evan, I just joined this forum.

I am relatively new in Dubai and would like some guidance on where I can go and try off-road driving in my own vehicle.

I have never done it in the past as a driver and would like to find somewhere close to Dubai that is safe and somewhat monitored incase I break down or get stuck.

Please feel free to email me in my personal email address if you have some pointer that would be helpful.

I am open to parks that have entrance fees for new comers

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards
Evan

Evan welcome to the club. You are in the right place. The club organize drives every Friday and there are different levels. As yourself most of us started with 0 experience and stock cars. As the time passed we got to develop out driving skills and vehicles. Keep your eyes open for a Club member drive which should be coming up in 3 weeks more or less. Also look at the forum and start collecting the tools required to have to attend the actual drives after the CM (club member drive) drive. Welcome again and looking forward to see u soon

Hi, I am Carmen, i used to drive in the sand alot when i lived in Abu Dhabi, then moved to Kuwait and then back to Dubai. Since then i have ventured out very rarely. i would say i know my stuff but rusty, my interest to push boundaries has gone, i just like the easy trips.

I made a comment to my friend who was here on holiday that i was struggling to find a group to drive with that took safety seriously, and he said he met a friend of his this week that said he drove with you guys and that you were responsible, so i thought ahh i will check you guys out.

I learnt in a very old jeep Cherokee XJ (most memorable was gear nob falling off in middle of a trip), upgraded to an Jeep Cherokee XJ Lifted, then in Kuwait i bought an xterra, brought it to UAE with me but found i didnt like the centre of gravity in it ! Moved to a LR4 which i loved driving in desert but everyone panicked that i was going to lose bits.

Now I drive a Montero Sport, so as much as i want to go to the desert i do know that i will only ever be doing the newbie trips, i just love being out without doing anything too tricky.

Hi Carmen,

You are at the right place. It is up to you to what extend you want to take your driving skills. One thing is for sure 1 drive or 1000 drives you will need to have the proper equipment. I will suggest look at the forum for the required tools and keep your eyes for the upcoming Club Member drive (CM drive) after the drive if you have all the necessary tools and you pass Marshall's inspection then you can qualify as a newbie and start driving with us

Welcome again

Hello everyone, I’m Dubasel, recently bit by the desert bug after a camping trip with friends that included super light dune traversing, so tip-toeing past a few dunes until you can’t see power lines anymore... still incredibly fun :-).

I’m here to learn and research as much as I can before taking the plunge on a beater rig and semi-obsessing over kit. Now I just need to find that search button. Psmiley

Welcome Carmen.

There are a few, two that i get by heart, montero sport driving in the club. The car has similar capabilities to a regular pajero, from my understanding, aside the gearbox that is much shorter.

Enroll for next Club Member and take a look at above informations that Phoenix posted.

Hey Bud, welcome!

In Almost4x4 you will see different cars, depending on personal preferences. On higher levels people goes for some cars that can handle more beats, but before committing to some specific, if you have a 4x4 join a Club Member drive and then you will see what you like more!

About equipments Phoenix posted above about the basic so you can get your first star after the Club Member drive.

There should be a CM drive in a few weeks, keep your eyes open at the forum and enjoy the Best Offroad Club!
