Hi all,

I was just wondering, given the rains in Oman (even schools have closed), is it still a good idea to continue to the Hatta Pools this weekend. Hatta Pools is known to have flash floods when its been raining heavily in Oman.. and more unsettled weather is expected.

Oh and also, about 2 months ago, I was driving towards the pools and there was a UAE Military checkpost set up on both sides of the road... the UAE National ID Card was a requirement for checking purposes, and anyone without it had to turn back. Pls inform the members who are going on this trip, just in case.

Absoultely right Fat Rabbit, years ago we would drive on high trails, but a couple of months ago when we went back, there was rad construction going on and the trail was mostly in wadi beds. Flash floods can come days after rain too, A pool forms somewhere and is obstructed by fallen rocks but if one rock shifts, the whole pool floods out in seconds. You actually have to cross two posts on the Omani Stretch of Dubai Hatta road and the one right before the trail is the third one.

You can make it without passport/ID if you take Kalba road and the back roads...
