Be careful - there may be no tomorrow

Good evening, friends.
As some of you may know, I teach at one of the country's national colleges. It is not often that your job might have aspects you find horrific, but having your students die certainly qualifies as something more than unfortunate. This weekend one of our young ladies and her brother went for a ride and never came back. The problem appears to have been high speed driving. If they were like many of their age, they may not have been wearing seat belts.
This morning the teacher sitting next to me held up an essay written by this young woman only 3 days before. He never had a chance to mark it. Now it is one of the few things left to remember that she was once here.
To those responsible for young people, teach them well. There is rarely such a thing as "too safe."
