Apart from Garmin Montana from Amit (which requires a big budget), is there another model that is recommended by our group for off road use....and one that can also be used on-road?

Also where to buy it?

Try the Nuvi 3590 or any other Nuvi which has an off road navigation mode.

It will basically take you from one point to another off road in a straight line. Temporary tracks are stored on all Nuvi devices so you have the option to visually follow the track to the location you started from.

I started off roading with a Nuvi 710 and still use it

Hello nasirdub

I recommend that before you ask a question it better to search the FORUM with different wards to check if someone asked the same question or not and this advice goes a cross any website.

1. Please read the following Thread to get familiar with off-roading GPS

Why do I need a GPS?

2. There was a thread with same question you might need to look at it too

Which GPS to buy?

Best Regards

Thanks Bu Salem, and all the contributors on those threads

Those 2 links are really useful and give us all a lot of choices.

I will do the following:

1. Stick to one of the Gamin models mentioned

2. Experiment with my IPAD GPS/ + SW + Downloaded maps as someone might like an even larger screen :)

My Garmin 276C won't start up. AMIT service centre checked and said the Power IC has gone and they don't have the parts as Garmin stopped supporting this unit. Can anyone advise where I can get it fixed in the UAE?
