Let me tell you about Fortuner

1. As dlemma mentioned that it has the same base and engine.
2. It is lite comparing with FJ so it means powerful in climbs.
3. Amazingly, it has a very nice clearance for offroad comparing with other SUV and with offroad suspension it will be unstoppable.

Things you need to have in mind:
1. The car is not comfortable as the other SUVs.
2. Because of the lite weight & high clearness the car is easy to rollover so you have to be careful.


All in All , it is a good car so why not ... going 4 it

I dont know if you are considering a new car or second hand. The new model (2016) looks cool however the specifications of the car has changed.

I dont know the earlier models but the latest model (2016) is heavier than FJ (Fortuner: Gross 2650kg, FJ:Gross 2510kg ) and have same size of engine but less power 235HP instead of 270-275

FJ has some additional features:

Secondary tank (Which is amazing)
A TRAC
Crawl Control
And 2 flags!! (Super Amazing) :grin:

Sorry didnt know there was a fully new model, no it was the old one he took out. FYI the fortuner is on a Hilux chassis, not an FJ Chassis.

Right [MENTION=9649]matts[/MENTION], my mistake. FJ shares same chassis of Prado, although 4Runner still shares some components from FJ Cruiser (such as front suspensions).

FJ Chassis is built on Hilux, it is the same.

Sorry, dont think thats correct. The FJ is on a Prado Chassis and i can find no evidence the prado is on a Hilux Chassis. The Hilux is leaf sprung, the FJ and Prado are coil sprung?

Maybe we're both right :) there are so many borrowed parts across ranges and manufacturers these days its difficult to tell where one ends and one begins. On a side note i saw an arctic trucks version of a Hilux on the way to work this morning looked pretty sweet!

Double cab hilux with a small turbo and you'll be laughing! Your in-laws will also love you because there's a fair amount of space in the rear.
