1- If its not touching then its perfect ( the caliber & rim will move with the hub as one unit , so the distance between them is fixed and they will never touch in the future ). To appreciate the advantage of a smaller rim you have to think about the total diameter of the rim / tyre combination ( as a big circle ) . the smaller the rim , the higher (taller) the tyre you can fix without changing the total diameter of the whole wheel . - smaller rims = lighter weight
- higher (taller) sidewall tires = longer Tyre print when deflated ( better traction on sand ) .
2- No it will not . you can fix the 255 and still you will get better traction on sand ( keeping in mind suspension travel distance )
